2008 Burton Mission Bindings ($89.98)
The Burton Mission has been around for so long and has been super popular since the day it came out. The Mission is the original park and pipe binding of choice being soft enough to butter around and packing enough power to stomp some big landings. This year the Mission got some new fancy straps on it that will adjust without tools and the new toe strap with some extra grip for more power. The Mission is a choice binding for the freestyler that doesn't need a plethora of bells and whistles.

Protec B2 Snow Helmet ($15.00)
Do you need a helmet for those park days? Maybe your little shredder needs one. How about those days that you need a helmet for a competition? Pick this one up! This helmet has vents for the warm days, or throw a light beanie under it for the cooler days.
The Pro-Tec B2 is my favorite helmet because it stays true to skateboarding roots. The B2 helmet is the most affordable helmet in the line that covers the basics: ventilation, ear flaps and multiple-impact protection. I recommend the B2 helmet for freestyle riders who want a durable, simple and safe helmet.
Simply said, its a skate helmet made for the snow. Warm ear flaps, goggle clip, good style and awesome price make this helmet my choice.

2008 Palmer Halo Womens ($194.50)
The Palmer Halo is the womens-specific version of the Palmer Pulse. I recommend the Palmer Halo for women who feel confident riding any trail at her resort but want to gain confidence in the terrain park. The forgiving flex of the Halo allows for maneuverability at jibs. This is a great buy, so buy it!
Palmer is making some sick new boards and this is no exception. Even though this is a womens board it is still super steezy and a great buy. Grab this for yourself, your girlfriend, your mistress or your daughter. This is a great buy.

Sierra The Crew Snowboard
Sierra Snowboard set out to make its first snowboard this season. Sierra Snowboard's landmark snowboard, The Crew, was a colaboration of the entire community. Once the final design was chosen, we took a look into the graffiti culture and wanted to use some terminology that we found:
Crew: An ordinary group of friends that suddenly form a crew if they all share an interest and a want to start collaborating, much like the community. This board was bulit with the all mountain freestyle rider in mind. With its twin shape and centered stance it'll be super playful, but it's still stiff enough for fast runs down the groomers.

Rossignol Bandit B3 2006
Rossi's new lineup might confuse some people with old names on new and different skis. The '05 B3 was a "fat" ski, which has evolved onto the new B4. The '06 B3 is an entirely new model with a wider shape than the respected B2 and a little more capability for an expert. While the new B3 at 83mm is getting about as wide as we usually recommend for everyday use, the great thing about it is that it doesn't feel as wide as it really is. When I took out the new B3, I immediately went for the weirdest snow I could find. I found it to be light feeling and effortless in wind pack, some crud in the trees, and some wet slop at the bottom of the trail. While the B3 made better short turns than I thought it would, it's really best in the medium to long radius stuff. The B3 gives an aggressive skier a little more to work with than the B2. I skied the 176 length and felt at home right away. I tried the 184 and found the length unnecessary for me unless the snow was really deep. A bigger or more aggressive skier might like the 184 better.
Note: We recomend the following binding for this ski The B3 is a flat ski that is engineered around the Axial 120Ti binding. This is Rossi's highest level binding featuring advanced toe design and a heelpiece with a short mounting zone for improved ski flex. This ski can be used with other binding choices.

Volkl Gotama SKi
The Gotama has been a crowd pleaser for a couple of years now and it is easy to see why. The "Goat" offers a superb combination of width, flex, and sidecut for the skier who lives for the off trail. Although there are some minor construction tweaks for '08, Volkl has wisely left the general skiing character of this ski unchanged. I tested the Goat over a two day period in February and got a day of deep untracked powdercat skiing followed by a day of deep leftovers at a resort. Through it all, the ski was a near perfect combination of float in the fluff and power in the goo. The Gotama feels like it wants to "flow" from turn to turn rather than push. This quiet feel inspired confidence even when the light was flat and the terrain was throwing me constant curveballs. When I ventured into an area that was sprouting a patch of soft bumps interspersed with medium tight trees, the Goat was smooth and effortless. This is not the stiffest, most powerful fat ski around, nor is it the lightest and most nimble. It is however, a ski that offers one of the best compromises of all these characteristics. I skied the 183 with the boot on the rearward mounting line and for my weight and preferences, it was perfect. Some bigger faster skiers may want the 190, or a stiffer ski in general, but I'm willing to trade off higher mach capabilities for maneuverability.
